Every year, the first week of October is National Fossil Week. But why limit the fun to just one week? At the Museum, we’re turning it into a month-long celebration of fossils!
Our Fossil Frenzy First Friday will showcase paleontologists, geologists, and scientific illustrators with a fossil focus. Bring your mystery fossils and rocks to our fossil identification stations, shop the special seasonal items in the Museum store, enjoy free access to the summer redwoods exhibit, Treasured Trees, an open bar for guests 21+, and food trucks.
But the fossil fun doesn’t stop there! We will also be announcing the new October lineup of our Naturalist Night lecture series featuring prehistoric life, from mollusks to dinosaurs.
This First Friday we’re partnering with:
Geologists from UCSC’s Earth and Planetary Sciences
Certified paleontologists from Pacific Paleontology
The United States Geological Survey
Kenneth S. Norris Center for Natural History
California Film And Cultural Center
Fossil Illustrators:
Mason Schratter
Cady Delay
Arin Vasquez
