
Scientific Illustration of Fossils

Celebrate National Fossil Week with the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History!
Enjoy a glass of wine in this elevated art experience as you learn to render real fossils from the Museum’s archives onto paper. Taught by a master scientific illustrator, this workshop explores the use of charcoal and graphite while guiding you through observational drawing, composition, and the play of shadow and light. Whether you’re a practiced artist or curious beginner, you’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for both natural history and the art of illustration.
Participants will have a completed art piece to take home at the conclusion of the workshop. Open to ages 21+/all experience levels. All supplies included.
