October 5 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Event Series (See All)

Celebrate National Fossil Week with the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History!

Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind opportunity to participate in a paleontological expedition to uncover the remains of extinct marine life.

Guided by paleontologist Wayne Thompson, travel 5-million years back in time to the bottom of the seafloor and discover the prehistoric creatures of the ancient Monterey Bay area.

Participants will search for, decipher, and identify the fossilized remains of rarely seen ancient creatures unearthed along the Santa Cruz shoreline. From giant prehistoric mammals, including whales and walruses, to micro-fossils of shellfish and plankton, there’s no telling what ancient secrets might surface on this hands-on expedition!
