Dive into the beautiful blue world of cyanotype printing in this hands-on workshop celebrating the shapes, textures, and surprising diversity of seaweed!
Join Museum Education Director Jenny Rienke to create your own botanical-style prints using cyanotype ink, and fresh seaweed specimens. Participants will experiment with arranging different species of marine algae to produce striking sun-developed artworks to take home, while also learning about the fascinating ecological roles seaweeds play along our coast.
Along the way, we’ll explore the incredible diversity of seaweed forms, colors, and textures found in Monterey Bay and discuss how these marine algae create underwater habitats, support ocean food webs, and inspire both science and art.
