“Singing from the Deep End” Poetry with Perugia Press

April 9 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Please join us in celebrating the publication of Singing from the Deep End (CavanKerry 2026), a poetry collection about girldom and friendship set on the rocky Atlantic coast by Rebecca Hart Olander. In addition to being a poet, Olander is the editor and publisher at Perugia Press, a press dedicated to publishing first and second books by women poets.

Olander will be joined by Santa Cruz poet Lisa Allen Ortiz and former Los Angeles Poet Laureate Lynne Thompson both of whom had first books published by Perugia Press. That first book by Lisa Ortiz was set in Santa Cruz Natural History Museum!

Come listen to poetry in the Santa Cruz Natural History Museum, learn more about Perugia Press, enjoy refreshments and a special pop-up display featuring Museum founder Laura Hecox’s historic scrapbooks.

Reception begins at 6:30pm and reading begins at 7:00pm.
