The world beneath our feet is often rooted in our greatest fears. It teems with life, is the keeper of death, and tells the earth’s history. What mark have we made on the underground landscape and what stories will it tell future generations?
Dig into this special exhibit as part of our annual Museum of the Macabre celebration.
Mastodon Tooth
Winter storms often expose fossils that were previously buried. Locally, some fossils are only visible after winter waves remove layers of sand. This mastodon tooth was found on the beach this past May and became an international sensation. In partnership with CA State Parks, the Museum has been working to conserve this unique fossil find and we’re excited to bring it back out for display during this special exhibit.
