SUMMARY:Botanical Ink Making
DESCRIPTION:Join Art of Nature artist Avery Maltz for a hands-on workshop exploring botanical ink-making using locally sourced plants. In this small-group setting\, you’ll learn how natural pigments are extracted and turned into usable inks. Avery will demonstrate the process step by step\, showing how plant materials are simmered and transformed\, and how factors like heat\, time\, and material choice affect the final color. \nParticipants will also work with a pre-prepared batch of ink\, adding natural binders and preservatives before bottling their own to take home. The workshop will wrap up with time to test the inks through drawing and mark-making. This workshop is open to all skill levels and offers a practical introduction to working with natural materials. \nWorkshop A (10AM-12PM) FULL\nWorkshop B (1PM-3PM) FULL\nYou can join the waitlist by emailing bella@santacruzmuseum.org. Please note if you have a preference on time slot. We’ll notify you if a spot becomes available. \nCapacity: 10 people per class\nTicket Price: $35\nDiscounts: $5 member discount \nAge limit: 10+
