Learn about the impacts made by these partners throughout the County and our shared collaborative histories over the years. \nAs a special treat\, there will be a storytime with internationally acclaimed children’s book author\, Taylor Lahey. To spotlight the Museum’s commitment to environmental education for all ages\, Taylor will be reading his book about youth-driven environmental activism which shows anyone\, no matter the age\, can make a positive impact in the world! \nPLUS\, this wouldn’t be a party without a FREE dessert station from Freedom Bakery! We’ll have a sweets bar for the kiddos and an open bar for the adults. Apply your observations to hue\, composition\, shadow and light techniques\, color theory\, mixing media\, building layers\, creating a palette\, and more. We will also launch the next installment of our newest Naturalist Night lecture series\, which will feature everything from sea otters and surfers\, to the extinct North American cheetah. But the safari doesn’t stop there! As a special treat\, we’re not kitten when we tell you that the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is bringing baby animals for adoption\, or just to snuggle. DESCRIPTION:Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind opportunity to participate in a paleontological expedition to uncover the remains of extinct marine life. \nGuided by paleontologist Wayne Thompson\, travel 5-million years back in time to the bottom of the seafloor and discover the prehistoric creatures of the ancient Monterey Bay area. \nParticipants will search for\, decipher\, and identify the fossilized remains of rarely seen ancient creatures unearthed along the Santa Cruz shoreline. From giant prehistoric mammals\, including whales and walruses\, to micro-fossils of shellfish and plankton\, there’s no telling what ancient secrets might surface on this hands-on expedition!
