DESCRIPTION:4th of July is always full of fun\, fireworks\, and friends! But our festivities can leave a mess on the beaches and potentially harm marine life. \nSo\, after celebrating the 4th of July\, join the Museum on the 5th of July as we team up with Save Our Shores for a beach cleanup! Give back to your community while showing your love for marine ecosystems as we take to Seabright Beach and scrub it clean of trash. \nAfter the cleanup\, we will weigh the total amount of litter collected! As a thank you\, complimentary guest passes to the Museum will be provided to participating volunteers. \nREGISTER \nRegistration is required and limited to the first 50 volunteers. Participants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. \nAll trash grabbers\, gloves\, bags\, and other materials will be provided by the Museum.

DESCRIPTION:As part of this Jumbo July special\, join an esteemed artist as you learn the science and art behind the most massive mollusk around! Featuring beautiful scientific illustration displays\, this program is perfect for aspiring artists and marine biologists alike. \nTaught by a professional illustrator and naturalist\, this workshop will begin with a scientific presentation on Giant Pacific Octopuses before transitioning to the painting portion. Using the artist’s exhibit materials as references\, participants will use acrylic paint and decorate their own 3D-printed octopus for a one-of-a-kind marine mollusk masterpiece \nNo prior experience required. Learn about the impacts made by these partners throughout the County and our shared collaborative histories over the years. \nAs a special treat\, there will be a storytime with internationally acclaimed children’s book author\, Taylor Lahey. To spotlight the Museum’s commitment to environmental education for all ages\, Taylor will be reading his book about youth-driven environmental activism which shows anyone\, no matter the age\, can make a positive impact in the world! \nPLUS\, this wouldn’t be a party without a FREE dessert station from Freedom Bakery!
