DESCRIPTION:Join the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History for a collaborative workshop connecting local educators with tribal leaders and scholars.\nThis workshop aims to deepen knowledge\, clarify terminology\, and provide a space for dialogue about incorporating a native perspective into K-12 curriculum. \nTeachers will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with colleagues and tribal representatives as they consider the strengths and weaknesses of their current curriculum and consider ways that they might better incorporate an Indigenous perspective into future lessons. SUMMARY:LiMPETS Sandy Beach Monitoring Teacher Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a hands-on\, in-person workshop in partnership with the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History. \nThis training is required for new participating teachers\, grades 6th-12th. \nREGISTER\nAttendees will: \n\nReceive a 5-lesson curriculum aligned with NGSS and Common Core\nGet hands-on training in Pacific mole crab data collection and analysis → includes a classroom dissection lab and post-field trip reporting\nLearn the logistics of coordinating a field science program\nGain experience using real scientific tools and protocols\nReceive a $100 stipend upon completion\n\n\nBy participating in LiMPETS\, students will: \n\nConduct community science that contributes to a 20+ year coastal data set used by researchers and policymakers\nExplore coastal habitats\, climate change\, and human impacts\nBuild a stronger connection to place and learn how to protect local ecosystems\n\nIf you have questions or need support to participate fully\, please contact Jeanette Johnston at jjohnston@pgmuseum.org.
