DESCRIPTION:4th of July is always full of fun\, fireworks\, and friends! But our festivities can leave a mess on the beaches and potentially harm marine life. \nSo\, after celebrating the 4th of July\, join the Museum on the 5th of July as we team up with Save Our Shores for a beach cleanup! Give back to your community while showing your love for marine ecosystems as we take to Seabright Beach and scrub it clean of trash. \nAfter the cleanup\, we will weigh the total amount of litter collected! As a thank you\, complimentary guest passes to the Museum will be provided to participating volunteers. \nREGISTER \nRegistration is required and limited to the first 50 volunteers. Participants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. \nAll trash grabbers\, gloves\, bags\, and other materials will be provided by the Museum.

To celebrate National Trails Day\, the Museum is partnering with the City of Capitola and Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship to remove invasive plants as part of a garden beautification project aiding in the restoration of Rispin Mansion’s biodiverse park. \nPlease RSVP Here\nAfter the gardening project\, volunteers will be invited to attend the thank you party at Woodhouse Brewing. \nRegistration is required and limited to the first 50 volunteers. DESCRIPTION:Join the Museum for a very special community gardening day\, as we team up with the Santa Cru​z County Chapter of the Society for Conservation Biology​!\nDig in and flex your green thumb as we tackle invasive species in Pilkington Creek and plant native species in the Museum’s Garden Learning Center​. Learn from horticultural experts about local ecology\, native plants and pollinators\, plus sustainable gardening practices​. It’s time to​ volunteer and get your hands dirty​! \nEvery third Saturday at the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History\nEmail volunteer@santacruzmuseum.org to RSVP. Space is limited.\nWhat to Expect\n\nThis project requires volunteer support with general landscaping\, occasional watering\, weeding\, and replanting.\nPlease let us know if you need special accommodations when you email to RSVP.\nThis program happens rain or shine\, but we will cancel in the case of muddy conditions or inclement weather.\nAll ages are welcome; children under 14 require adult supervision. Volunteers under 18 require a parent/guardian to sign waivers.
