You otter swing by to celebrate Safari September! \nThe Museum is thrilled to partner with the Cheetah Conservation Fund and Sea Otter Savvy to showcase these marvelous mammals all month long.\n \nJoin us for a hare-raising adventure as wildlife photographers display their images of endangered species and paleo-mammalogists share their cutting-edge discoveries. We will also launch the next installment of our newest Naturalist Night lecture series\, which will feature everything from sea otters and surfers\, to the extinct North American cheetah. But the safari doesn’t stop there! As a special treat\, we’re not kitten when we tell you that the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is bringing baby animals for adoption\, or just to snuggle. DESCRIPTION:The Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History is turning 120 years old!\nAuthor Taylor Lahey will be reading his debut book\, ‘Câmbio’. \nTo celebrate\, we’re throwing a huge birthday party for August’s First Friday! \nWe’re bringing together some of our friends from across the community for a night of games\, arts and crafts\, music\, and so much more. Learn about the impacts made by these partners throughout the County and our shared collaborative histories over the years. \nAs a special treat\, there will be a storytime with internationally acclaimed children’s book author\, Taylor Lahey. To spotlight the Museum’s commitment to environmental education for all ages\, Taylor will be reading his book about youth-driven environmental activism which shows anyone\, no matter the age\, can make a positive impact in the world! \nPLUS\, this wouldn’t be a party without a FREE dessert station from Freedom Bakery! We’ll have a sweets bar for the kiddos and an open bar for the adults.
