The Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Under the guidance of its Board of Directors, the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History operates in support of its Mission: Connecting People with Nature and Science to Inspire Stewardship of the Natural World.

The Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History has been connecting people to the wonders of the natural world for over 100 years. Through our extraordinary location, interactive displays, engaging programs, and special collections, the Museum highlights the region’s diverse natural history, from the shores of the Monterey Bay to the summit of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Public Programs Manager

The Public Programs Manager develops, implements, and assesses the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History’s Public Programs under the supervision of the Executive Director. Public programming includes a suite of virtual and in-person offerings, including volunteer opportunities, workshops, walks, lectures, and community events. These programs are deeply rooted in our core value of building community around a shared curiosity for and appreciation of the natural environment. Learn more here.

Summer Camp Instructor

Under the supervision of the Education Coordinator, Summer Camp Instructors are responsible for co-facilitating the Museum’s week-long summer day camp programs for students entering grades K-6. This is a temporary full-time (40 hours per week) position for 8 weeks (June 12 – August 6, 2022). This position will work closely with a team of instructors to prepare for and teach seven weeks of camp. Each week of camp will serve a different group of students and will focus on a range of natural history, art, and science topics. Summer Camp Instructors will work with Museum staff, interns, and volunteers to create a fun, safe, and educational experience for everyone. Learn more here.

Development and Community Outreach Manager

Building upon a rich history, strong programs and partnerships, broad community support, a dedicated Board, and committed staff team, the Development and Community Engagement Manager oversees the stewardship of our donor and foundation network, as well as the expansion of funding strategies and partnerships that will allow us to connect donors to the tangible difference their contributions are making locally. This is a year-round, 40 hours per week position, eligible for full benefits, and FLSA exempt. This position supervises the Marketing Coordinator. Works with department managers to evaluate potential funding opportunities and focuses on creating development plans that raise public awareness of our work.  Requires some evening/weekend work and consistent, reliable access to transportation.
